”Creating a Better World” Näihin sanoihin ei ole voinut välttää törmäämästä, sillä partioliikkeen
maailmanjärjestö WOSMin aiempi brändi ja logo toitottivat näitä sanoja kuin Turun
Metsänkävijöiden torvisoittokunta vaskipuhaltimiaan jokakeväisessä Turun partioparaatissa.
Elokuussa Egyptissä partiolaisten maailmankonferenssissa WOSM esitteli uuden ilmeen ja
tunnuslauseen partioliikkeelle, jotka WOSMin mukaan toivottavat tervetulleeksi uuden ajan ja ovat
linjassa liikkeen uuden vision ja strategian kanssa.
Uusi tunnuslauseemme on ”Ready for life”, jonka pintaa raaputtamalla ja maailmankonferenssissa
julkaistua strategiaa tavaamalla paljastaa muutoksen partioliikkeen ylimmällä tasolla.
Partioliikkeellä on tähän asti ollut selkeä kaksoispäämäärä: Kasvatamme lapsia ja erityisesti
nuoria, samalla rakentaen parempaa maailmaa. Uudessa strategiassa tästä jälkimmäisetä
paremman maailman rakentamisen painotuksesta näyttää ote kirpoavan. Partioliikkeen uusi visio
on olla maailman inspiroivin ja osallistavin nuorisoliike, luoden muuttavia oppimiskokemuksia
jokaiselle nuorelle, kaikkialla. Aiemmassa visiossa tavoiteltiin tähtiä taivaalta ja vähän
pidemmältäkin 100 miljoonan aktiivisen nuoren kansalaisen voimin, joka rakentaisivat positiivista
muutosta yhteisöissään sekä koko maailmassa.
2010-luku oli näin seuraavalta vuosikymmeneltä tarkasteltuna jopa naiivin idealismin aikaa, joka
juonsi juurensa vahvaan uskoon maailman yhdentymisestä globalisaation tuoman verkottumisen
myötä. Geopoliittisesti tässä ajanjaksossa oli kaikuja kylmän sodan päättymisen jälkeen
syntyneestä tulevaisuususkosta, jonka tunnetuin tiivistys oli filosofi Francis Fukuyaman lausahdus
historian loppumisesta, kun länsimainen liberalismi ja markkinatalous oli ottanut selkävoiton
fasismista ja kommunismista. Tuo aika on nyt murentumassa ja ajan tuulet ovat kääntyneet
vastaisiksi, jolloin partioliikkeenkin purjeveneessä on syytä laittaa pienempää keulapurjetta ja
kiristää genoaskuuttia tiukemmalle. Maailma ei tunnu tällä hetkellä kaipaavan ideologista
toivepuhetta paremmasta maailmasta, joten on helpompi tarttua toisenlaiseen tulevaisuususkoon
ja siinä, kovin kliseisesti, uskotaan nuorissa olevan tulevaisuus.
Uusi partioliikkeen visio ja strategia ovat askeleita taaksepäin partioliikkeen uskossa omiin
kykyihinsä luoda parempaa maailmaa yhtenä kansainvälisenä yhteisönä toimeen tarttumalla.
Muutoksen tekeminen viedään globaalin yhteisön ja muutosvoiman tasolta yksilötason
voimaannuttamiseen. Tämä on valitettava kehitys, tai taantuma, kun tämä aika kaipaisi juuri
naiiviltakin tuntuvaa yhteisöllisyyttä ja idealismia ajasta, jolloin ihmiset kautta maailman voisivat
nähdä niitä asioita, jotka meitä yhdistävät jatkuvien erojemme korostamisen sijasta. Omat
kokemukseni partioliikkeen parista sekä muista kulttuureista tuleviin partiolaisiin sattumaltakin (ei-
partiotapahtumissa) törmätessä ovat vahvistaneet uskoani, että juuri partioliike pystyy olemaan
kansallisuuksien, kulttuurien, identiteettien ja ismien ristiaallokon ylittävä silta.
Hyvänä suuntana pidän vahvempaa partioliikkeen kasvatustehtävän korostamista ja katseen
kääntämistä sinne, missä voimme tehdä suurimman vaikutuksen maailmaan. 100 miljoonan
nuoren yhteistoiminta paremman maailman puolesta osoittautui mahdottomaksi tehtäväksi, mutta
miljoonien partiojohtajien vaikutus kymmeniin miljooniin partiolaisiin ympäri maailman on
tehtävissä. Toki tämä nuorten merkityksen korostaminen on aina ollut partioliikkeen keskiössä
osana aiemmin mainitsemaani kaksoispäämäärää. Ehkäpä painopisteen muutos auttaa tekemään
